The Walking Dead’s fourth season is underway, showing the survivors of the zombie apocalypse in increasingly precarious situations. The prison fence can no longer withstand the constant pressure of the bloodthirsty walkers, humans are contracting the zombie virus through more varied ways than bites, etc. While all of the prison resident’s ability to live is up in the air, there’s also the question of whether or not David Morrissey’s The Governor will be biting the bullet anytime soon.
The Governor first graced the screen in The Walking Dead’s fourth season in Sunday night’s episode. He was shown spying on Rick and Carl as they split food outside the prison. It can’t be said who would win the next faceoff, but a new project in the works for Morrissey has Walking Dead fans worried that the actor could be making an exit before The Governor’s arc on the show is organically completed. Morrissey wants to set the record straight that though he shot another pilot for AMC – Line of Sight – he’s fully committed to the zombie drama.
“I had a little hiatus on The Walking Dead and we filmed that pilot. So I’m waiting to see. But I like The Walking Dead. I am part of The Walking Dead,” Morrissey told Entertainment Weekly. “ I really hope to make it to season 5 of The Walking Dead. I don’t know what’s going to happen — that’s an AMC decision, not mine.
“But I really consider myself to be a Walking Dead actor, and I consider myself to be the Governor and that’s where I am with this at the moment,” Morrissey continued. “That was a nice little break for me, and I hope it happens, but I don’t know how it will happen. It’s been made very clear to me that this is my show. The Walking Dead is my show and I’m very proud of it and I want to be a part of that. Suffice it to say I am a Walking Dead actor and that is the show that I employed to do, and the show I love.”
Next Week on The Walking Dead, the one-eyed Woodbury villain will be a focus of the episode as he continues to scout out the prison.
