Mad Men network AMC has another hit on its hands, and it's not letting go any time soon. The basic cable network announced today that it was renewing zombie apocalypse drama The Walking Dead for a third season, EW.com reports. "Today we are pleased to announce that the 'dead' shall live as we proudly renew The Walking Dead for a third season on AMC and, globally, with our terrific partners at Fox International Channels," said AMC president Charlie Collier in a statement.
Only two episodes of The Walking Dead's second season have aired, in addition to its truncated first season of only six episodes, but the rating have been promising. Ratings for Sunday’s episode came to 6.7 million total viewers, with 4.5 million of them in the 18-49-year age range coveted by TV networks.
The show, which features a group of people in Georgia trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by man-eating zombies, stars actors Jon Bernthal and Andrew Lincoln. For more about Sunday night's episode, click here.
