Christina Aguilera on 'The Voice'
The coaches must pick their final contestants to bring to the knockout rounds.
Coach Christina Aguilera is the only one who has a steal remaining.
Team Adam opened the night with Laith Al-Saadi and Matt Tedder singing, “Honkey Tonk Woman” with a battle of the blues. Coach Pharrell commented on how great the growl is in Al-Saadi’s voice. Their incredible guitar skills make it hard for Adam Levine to decide. Levine brings Al-Saadi to the next round.
Team Blake’s Peyton Parker and Gina Castanzo performed “Borderline.” Parker secured her spot on Team Blake for the next round.
Team Pharrell pairs Caity Peters and Joe Vivona in a Billy Joel classic “Honesty.” Their mentor Sean “Diddy” Combs brings a therapy-like vibe to their practices. He’s honest and tells them to just let it flow reassuring Vivona in his talent. Peters has an original raspiness to her voice and Vivona’s voice is smooth. Levine thinks they both have something different and special about their voices. The judges could tell that the song was hard for them and Pharrell decides on Peters.
Levine pairs John Gilman and Owen Danoff with “Runaway.” Danoff will be going to the knockout rounds.
Team Christina’s Joe Maye earns his spot in the next round during his performance with Ayanna Jahneé. His energy and charisma won Aguilera.
Team Blake had the best performance of the night with Brittany Kennell and Trey O’Dell performing Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain.” Their mentor Gwen Stefani advised Kennell to think about what the lyrics mean to her. Kennell’s voice is original and O’Dell has the strength. Shelton chooses Kennel while O’Dell gets Team Christina’s last steal.
The knockout round begins next Monday where they will compete for a spot in the live playoffs. Artists will be picking their own song and they will get assistance with their key advisor this season, Miley Cyrus. Tune into the knockout rounds starting next Monday 8/7c on NBC.
