The battle rounds continued on The Voice, with Pharrell Williams, Blake Shelton, Adam Levine and Gwen Stefani sending home more singers, and Pharrell using up his last steal for Menlik Zergabachew.

Team Pharrell: Taylor Phelan vs. Jordy Searcy

First up tonight were Team Pharrell’s Taylor Phelan and Jordy Searcy. Pharrell wanted to see the two battle to merge indie rock and pop rock, so he gave them The Script’s “Breakeven.” Taylor was lagging in rehearsals, and Alicia Keys encouraged both him and Jordy to explore the raw emotions of the song.

The battle was close, but Taylor won over Pharrell with his passionate delivery. Winner: Taylor.

Team Adam: Alessandra Castronovo vs. Joe Kirk

Alessandra Castronovo and Joe Kirk took on Rihanna’s “Stay” in a particularly emotional battle for Team Adam. In rehearsals, Joe was holding back and Alessandra was struggling to let go of her control. On stage, the battle was precise and both Alessandra and Joe brought their A-game, bringing Gwen to tears with their emotional performance.

Blake called Joe’s vocal performance perfect, and, while Pharrell told Joe he has a career ahead of him, he saw a true diva in Alessandra. Adam took his sweet time declaring a winner, but went with Alessandra for her strong stage presence. Joe walked off stage in tears, clearly defeated, and Pharrell walked him out, telling him not to give up. “If you stop now, the no was right,” Pharrell told him. Winner: Alessandra

In a quick montage, we also saw that Rebekah Samarin beat out Clara Hong for a spot on Team Adam, while Blake chose Grant Ganzer over John Martin and Tanner Linford over Justin Johnes.

Winners: Rebekah Samarin, Grant Ganzer, Tanner Linford

Team Gwen: Menlik Zergabachew vs. Troy Ritchie

Back to the full-length battles, Team Gwen’s Menlik Zergabachew faced off against Troy Ritchie with Hall & Oates’ “Maneater. In rehearsals, Menlik and Troy struggled a bit when tasked with blending their contrasting reggae and rock vocal styles while also getting a feel for the song.

It was a close battle that had the coaches on their feet and the crowd going wild. In the end, Stefani declared Troy the winner, leaving Menlik up to steal. Adam and Pharrell both pressed their buttons, praising his strong vocals and cool stage presence. Menlik decided to head over to Team Pharrell, making him Pharrell’s last steal of the battle rounds. Winner: Taylor. Menlik: Team Pharrell

The battle rounds continue on The Voice, Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on NBC.
