A cause of death has been confirmed for the signer Nolan Neal, who was a member of the band Hinder and contestant on both The Voice and America’s Got Talent.
Neal had publicly struggled with addiction issues, and a coroner’s report now shows that he passed away due to “acute combined drug toxicity.”
Neal was found unresponsive in his apartment on July 18 of this year and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Davidson County Medical Examiner reported that he passed away due to a combination of fentanyl, morphine and acetyl fentanyl in his body and it was likely an accidental death.
Initial reports around his death were inconclusive, but drugs were suspected to be involved because a baggie with an unknown substance was found near his body.
The singer was reportedly struggling with addiction while competing on Adam Levine’s team for The Voice in 2016. He was sober for several years afterwards, but admitted in an interview with WBIR that he relapsed after joining Hinder because they were “all about partying and drinking.”
Neal is survived by his mother Cathy Neal, his wife Stephanie and two children he had in previous relationships.
Hay is expected to be sentenced on April 17.
