‘The View’ Hosts Roast Gov. Chris Sununu For Saying Kamala Harris Was ‘Pushed On Democrats’

Gov. Chris Sununu (R-New Hampshire) appeared on The View on Thursday and engaged in a tense and lively exchange with the show’s hosts about the recent political landscape.

The interview came a year after Sununu was previously booed by the audience at a May 2023 appearance on the long-running talk show.

In the latest discussion, Sununu delved into his perspective on the Democratic party’s nomination process and suggested that Vice President Kamala Harris was “pushed” into place as the likely Democratic nominee, rather than being the choice of the voters.

He claimed that “three phone calls were made from [Senate Majority Leader Chuck] Schumer and [former House Speaker Nancy] Pelosi” to orchestrate this, a claim that was swiftly disputed by moderator Whoopi Goldberg, who firmly reminded Sununu, “That’s actually not what happened,” and that “the other choices decided she was the best choice” to run. 

The conversation also touched on Sununu’s support for the former president, and Joy Behar and Hostin pressed him on his controversies, including multiple indictments and findings of liability for sexual abuse. Sununu defended his position and stated that the insinuation was “insulting to half of the voters” in the nation who will vote for the former president in November and that the hosts shouldn’t judge those Americans “because they have a different set of priorities.”

Sununu had been a frequent critic of the former president before endorsing him recently.

The debate extended to the topic of inflation, and Sununu lamented the high costs of family dining, while Goldberg argued that the government does not control grocery prices. Sununu, however, maintained that inflation is “caused by one thing: The government prints and spends too much money.”

Despite the heated exchanges, the discussion ultimately had to be cut short as the group was unable to reach an agreement on many of the issues. The moment ended a busy week for The View, which had also addressed Trump’s recent interview with the National Association of Black Journalists and Behar’s comments about needing a séance to communicate with her dead friends.
