‘The View’ Co-Host Sunny Hostin’s Husband, Emmanuel Hostin, Faces Federal Insurance Fraud Lawsuit

The View co-host Sunny Hostin’s husband, Emmanuel Hostin, has been accused of federal insurance fraud. The orthopedic surgeon, who has been named one of the defendants in the high-profile racketeering case in New York, stands accused of engaging in fraudulent medical practices to secure kickbacks from an insurance company.

The suit, filed in December 2024, claims that Hostin was involved in a scheme where he performed surgeries, specifically arthroscopic procedures, and then billed an insurance company covering Uber, Lyft and taxi drivers. American Transit claims that these actions were part of a larger scheme involving fraudulent billing practices that resulted in significant financial losses for the company. The case names Emmanuel as one of 200 defendants accused of fraud, with American Transit seeking $450 million in damages.

Hostin has denied the allegations via a statement by Daniel John Thwaites, his attorney. The lawyer described the lawsuit as “meritless” and argued that it was part of an attempt by the insurance company to intimidate doctors into forgoing proper payments for medical services rendered. Thwaites went on to assert that American Transit had filed the lawsuit hastily, without conducting a thorough investigation into Hostin or speaking to his legal team.

This legal battle is part of a broader initiative by American Transit to combat what it describes as a rampant issue of “no-fault fraud” in New York. 

Sunny and Emmanuel Hostin have been married for nearly 25 years, having tied the knot in 1998. They share two children and live in Purchase, New York. The couple met at a church in Maryland, and Emmanuel graduated from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1996.
