Homer Simpson
In last night’s episode of The Simpsons, “D’oh Canada,” the family take a trip to Canada to visit the Niagara Falls and while on their way spot a few familiar locations.
The Simpsons drive through Upstate New York locales poking fun at the towns and cities they drive through including Utica, Buffalo and Rochester.
Homer mocks the regions’ decline saying it was never great in the first place. He then breaks into song and sings a parody of Frank Sinatra’s “New York New York” mocking Upstate New York.
The song includes a shot of Homer attending a nearly empty Buffalo Bills game, passing a declining population counter in Utica, and passing by while onlookers take selfies near a crumbling Kodak factory.
The song understandably ruffled a few feathers including Rich Azzopardi, a spokesman for New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo. He dismissed the jokes calling them a bunch of “cheap shots” and issued his own retort.

“There always remains work to be done but — dumb cheap shots aside — facts are facts: jobs are up, unemployment is down, millennials are coming back and it’s clear that Poochie was an uncredited writer on that episode,” said Azzopardi in a statement.
