A&E has ordered 10 episodes of The Returned, a science-fiction show adapted from a 2012 French TV series.
Before The Returned was a TV series it was a French-language film titled Les Revenants (They Came Back). Its storyline revolved around dead people coming back to life – though as far more normal versions of themselves than in other zombie films and shows.
In 2012, the film was adapted into French TV Series The Returned. The series soon garnered international acclaim and was brought to U.S. audiences on the Sundance Channel.
Now, Lost and Bates Motel showrunner Carlton Cuse and True Blood writer Raelle Tucker are teaming up to create an English-language adaptation of The Returned for A&E, reported Entertainment Weekly. “The Returned has the potential to be one of the most compelling drama series on cable, thanks to phenomenal scripts written by Carlton and Raelle,” said A&E’s David McKillop. “We look forward to seeing their vision brought to life on screen.”
