'The Human Centipede' Sequel Banned In UK

The Human Centipede, Tom Six's 2009 horror film about a mad scientist who kidnaps and attaches three unsuspecting tourists to each other in a hideous display, has a sequel — The Human Centipede II: Full Sequence, or tentatively, The Human Millipede — but not everyone is eager to see it. The film has already been banned in the United Kingdom by the British Board of Film Classification.

The film will be a straight-to-DVD production, but the board has still refused to publicly distribute it, due to what it construes as "horrific pornographic scenes," according to The Washington Post. The sequel takes the new approach of framing the centipede as the object of a "depraved sexual fantasy," and it is this new element that elicits the BBFC's objection. The movie "makes little attempt to portray any of the victims in the films as anything other than objects to be brutalised, degraded and mutilated for the amusement and arousal of the central character, as well as for the pleasure of the audience."

Six responded in a statement that called the BBFC out on their hypocrisy. "Thank you BBFC for putting spoilers of my movie on your website and thank you for banning my film in this exceptional way. Apparently I made an horrific horror-film, but shouldn't a good horror film be horrific? My dear people it's a f**king MOVIE. It is all fictional. Not real."

The controversial sequel is in post-production and is set to be released sometime this year.
