‘The Great American Baking Show’ Revival Announces New Hosts Ellie Kemper & Zach Cherry

The embattled American adaptation of the classic Great British Baking Show (Or Bake-Off to the U.K. purists) was bought from ABC by the Roku Channel as part of a huge swathe of scripted and unscripted projects set to premiere on the up-and-coming streamer.

While it is going to be judged by the same judges who work on the British show, Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith, the new American hosts have since announced to keep building up the hype. Now, the first promo images of Ellie Kemper and Zach Cherry in the show’s iconic tent standing behind Hollywood and Leith have been released.

Kemper is best known for her acclaimed performance in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt as well as a long-running supporting role in The Office. Cherry is an actor and well-known improviser who has had bit roles in a wealth of sitcoms and other films and just had a break-out lead performance in Severance.

The Great American Baking Show aired for five seasons on ABC with a rotating crew of hosts and judges. Season three had to be pulled from the air after one of its judges, the pastry chef Johnny Iuzzini, was accused of sexual harassment.

New episodes for the British series reportedly just wrapped filming this month, so it’s safe to assume we could get a new season sometime within the coming months. According to the Roku Channel, the series will be shot in the same tent as the U.K. episodes, potentially to try and capture that same magic that some viewers couldn’t find in the American adaptation’s first run.

Other projects coming to Roku Channel include Weird: The Al Yankovic Story starring Daniel Radcliffe, a continuation of Chrissy Teigen’s former Quibi show Chrissy’s Court, and apparently two new shows from celeb chef Emeril Lagasse titled Emeril Tailgates and Emeril Cooks
