There is no stopping the boy wonder. In addition to opening to largely positive reviews, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 has set a new all-time record for the highest-grossing opening weekend: $168.5 million. The record was previously held by the The Dark Knight at $158.4 million.
Harry Potter's magic powers easily defeated last week's number one, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, which came in second with a meager $21 million. Horrible Bosses, a comedy starring Jason Bateman and Jennifer Aniston, rounded out the top three with $17.6 million.
The only other new movie to crack the top ten this week was the re-animated classic Winnie the Pooh, which came in at number six with $8 million. The Pooh did not stand a chance against Potter's across-the-board appeal.

I wonder if they still would have broken the record without the 3D ticket sale boost?
yeah, 3D tickets cost more. i feel like they should account for that price difference.
