Country music trio The Chicks, formerly known as The Dixie Chicks, have finally addressed their Sunday evening concert in Indianapolis where they reportedly left the stage after only half an hour of performing.
The band released a statement on their Instagram page saying “we are so sorry we could not give you the show you deserved OR the show we wanted to give you. We will be back Indianapolis! Hold onto your tickets.”
While an explanation was not offered as to why the group left the stage so abruptly, they released a follow-up post later indicating that a doctor prescribed them urgent “vocal rest,” and postponed three of their shows in the future to allow for more recovery time.
The well-loved country group, which had just played at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, has only been touring since mid-June when they kicked off their shows in St. Louis, Missouri. Hopefully, after their vocal break, the group will be able to continue their 2022 tour without any more incidents.
The Chicks released their eighth studio album, Gaslighter, which was their first release in 14 years, back in 2020. They also dropped the word “Dixie” from their name, as the word has known associations with the Confederate States of America during the time of the Civil War.
