‘The Big Bang Theory’ Season 9 Premiere: Leonard & Penny Wed [SPOILERS]

The Big Bang Theory started off the new season with wedding bells.

‘BIG BANG THEORY’ SEASON 9 PREMIERE

Season 9 of The Big Bang Theory started off with Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Penny’s (Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting) marriage, although it was an awkward affair. Having just heard about Leonard kissing a co-worker during his North Sea expedition two years earlier, Penny said “I do”, but couldn’t shake the thought of him kissing Mandy (Melissa Tang). Not only did Leonard kiss Mandy during his expedition, but he sees her regularly at work, and Penny isn’t sure if she can handle that. Despite the recent news, Leonard and Penny’s unique wedding vows were quite entertaining, as Leonard’s heartfelt, nerdy vows were met with Penny’s off-the-cuff Toy Story reference to the song “You’ve Got a Friend in Me.”

After the ceremony – Penny still disgruntled over the kiss – they drive home from Las Vegas where the newly-weds spend their first night as husband and wife in their separate apartments.

Meanwhile, Sheldon (Jim Parsons) is having trouble with his girlfriend, Amy (Mayim Bialik), who is finally fed up with his lack of consideration for her and her needs. What Amy doesn’t know is that Sheldon had actually planned on proposing to her with his great-grandmother’s ring.

In the midst of all this, Stuart (Kevin Sussman) hits on both Amy and Penny. Perhaps, now that Howard (Simon Helberg) has been married off, it’s Stuart’s turn to step in as the needy, awkward suitor.

As the characters get paired up or married off it may mean the end is nigh for The Big Bang Theory. After eight seasons of will-they-won’t-they between Leonard and Penny, now that they’re married, the show may be coming to the end of its rope. Nevertheless, the ninth season starts out pretty well, hopefully with enough power to fuel the rest of the season.
