The Bible Experience, in conjunction with History’s hit miniseries, is on display in New York City as part of a promotion for the show's Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD release on April 2. The gallery opened on Tuesday night and displays photographs from the show’s production and selections from the Green Collection, which has a total of 40,000 biblical artifacts.

“As stewards of these awe-inspiring texts and artifacts, we are thrilled about the opportunity to share them with the creators of The Bible TV series and to celebrate this timely and transformative contribution to our culture's conversation on the book that has changed our world,” Steve Green of the Green family said, BusinessWire reports. “These items are of great historical and biblical significance and demonstrate the Bible's impact on every facet of life throughout the ages. We hope the experience of standing mere inches from them will inspire viewers to find a new appreciation for this most-banned, most-debated, best-selling book of all time.”

The Bible Experience is located in Manhattan at 450 West 14th street. Admission is free. The gallery is open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. through Wednesday, Mar. 27th.

The Bible, created by Mark Burnett and Roma Downey, has dealt with some recent controversy regarding claims that the show's depiction of Satan looked similar to President Barack Obama. However, Burnett and Downey have denied these accusations and the show has been extremely popular. New episodes of The Bible air this Sunday on History at 8:00 p.m. EST. —Hal Sundt
