‘The Batman’ Director Matt Reeves Shares Full Scene Of New Movie

Matt Reeves, the director of the new DC Extended Universe film, The Batman starring Robert Pattinson, has uploaded a high-definition version of the chilling funeral scene from the upcoming film that had previously been leaked online as a sneak peek for excited fans.

The scene, which sees Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne attending a funeral that is then attacked by The Riddler, showed a strong visual tone has been set for the movie and introduced us to some of the film’s key cast. Along with Pattinson, we see Jeffrey Wright, who is portraying detective Jim Gordon with signature mustache and all.

While he has few words in the trailer, Pattinson carries himself well at least as Bruce Wayne. His stare-down with the mysterious figure that is likely The Riddler before a car crashes through the church is an excellent example of Pattinson’s nonverbal performance that contributes to the tension of this scene.

Some fans may have been skeptical of his ability to deliver the performance when Pattinson was initially cast in the role, but it seems like he is taking the character very seriously and getting good results.

The scene ends on a spine-chilling cliffhanger, with a beaten hostage crawling out of the car in the middle of the church with a bomb strapped around his neck, and an envelope addressed “To the Batman” stuck to his chest.

This new film is based on the Batman: Year One comics storyline, which follows a younger Bruce Wayne and Jim Gordon as they are first introduced to the crime and violence of Gotham City. The film also stars Colin Farrell as Penguin, Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as The Riddler, and Andy Serkis as Alfred.

The Batman premieres in theaters on March 4, 2022. You can watch the funeral scene here:
