They say that honesty is always the best policy, but if you're trying to land an engagement from sexy blonde Bachelorette Emily Maynard, 26, you might want to think again — at least if you're suitor Alessandro, who told Maynard, a single mom to six-year-old Ricki, that taking care of a little girl would constitute a "compromise" to him.

Even Bachelorette host Chris Harrison was shocked at the comment, reports SeattlePi.com. "I was in the control room and we're watching this going, 'What are you doing? Just say you made a mistake. She's giving you the out!' It was so bizarre to watch this guy hang himself tighter and tighter. I don't think Emily wanted to send him home, but he kept going and finally she was like, 'You're too dumb for your own good.'"

So Alessandro was sent packing, leaving Maynard to enjoy individual dates with contestants Chris (the one who initially presented her with Bobble Head versions of the two of them), and Arie (the race car driver). Both gentleman received a rose, and while Chris had to scale the side of a five-story building to reach the site of the romantic dinner he would have with Maynard, Arie braved a roller coaster with the Bachelorette before kicking back to enjoy a private concert by country music legend Dolly Parton, 66.

Chris and Arie both received roses, as did Sean on the group date, but at the end of the night Tony and Stevie joined Alessandro in being kicked to the curb.

Catch The Bachelorette Monday nights on ABC at 8 p.m. EST.
