'The Bachelor'™ Recap: Juan Pablo Meets The 27 Women, Cuts 9

The premiere of The Bachelor’s 18th season introduced Juan Pablo Galavis to the 27 women who will be vying for a rose and his heart over the next few months.

'The Bachelor' Recap

Opening up the show was a montage of testimonials from a number of the women. They share information about their families, their professions and what they think about the newest bachelor. “Sexy” was a favorite adjective of the ladies to describe Juan Pablo, who they all hope to get the final rose from.

Meanwhile, Juan Pablo once again is featured as the doting father that he is with his four-year-old daughter Camila. He’s also captured running shirtless on the beach, and once again, detailing what he’s looking for in his ideal woman. There to help him figure that out is former Bachelor star Sean Lowe who is set to marry the woman he picked, Catherine Giudici, later this month. His advice to his successor? Kiss a lot of women.

Juan Pablo Meets The Women

After a pep talk from host Chris Harrison, a suited up Juan Pablo awaits the arrival of the women from whom he’s supposed to pick his bride. Following a number of gimmicky introductions, including a fake baby bump, a piano on wheels and a “chemistry” lesson, the latest Bachelor has to narrow down the dating field.

Upon meeting all of the women, Juan Pablo gives the “First Impression Rose” to Canadian Opera singer Sharleen. Despite initial hesitation to accept the rose due to her lack of “insta-chemistry,” Sharleen takes it and will be around for another week.

The Rose Ceremony: Clare's Fake Baby Bump

Part-Mexican Clare, who’d introduced herself to Juan Pablo with a fake baby bump, received the first rose from the Bachelor during The Rose Ceremony. Next up was Nikki, the 26-year-old pediatric nurse, who was followed by single parent, Renee, and assistant district attorney, Andi. Roses were also given to account manager Chantel and Lauren S., who’d arrived at the mansion with the piano.

Dog lover Kelly, who brought along her dog Molly, also got a rose, as did NBA dancer Cassandra, teddy bear-hugging Danielle, nanny Alli and science educator Chelsie. Dancer Kat lured Juan Pablo in with a quick Salsa. Brazilian legal assistant Victoria is still in the mix, as is Christy, who brought Camila a homemade bracelet. Self-described free spirit Lucy, first grade teacher Elise, and local news reporter Amy L. will be sticking around as well.

Booted in the first round of eliminations on The Bachelor were Kylie, Lauren H. and her friend Ashley, Amy J., Christine, Valerie, Alexis, Maggie and Lacy.

The Bachelor airs Mondays on ABC at 8/7c.
