Tessa Thompson, Rebecca Hall & Ruth Negga Show Off Unique Looks At Black Cinema Gala

Tessa Thompson, Rebecca Hall and Ruth Negga stunned the red carpet at the 4th Annual Celebration of Black Cinema and Television earlier this month.

Presented by The Critics Choice Association, the event highlighted the achievements and success of many black actors and creators in Hollywood.

Negga wore a Duro Olowu three-piece suit from the Spring 2022 collection. She started the look with an African-inspired colorful print and white Kate Spade pumps. The outfit was put together with a red clutch and finished off with a green accent braided into her hair.

Thompson put out a completely different energy with her all-black piece. The fellow Passing actress contrasted Negga’s vibrant and fun look with a dark and sleek ensemble. She fashioned a black Bardot dress with exaggerated sleeves, giving off futuristic vibes.

Hall, the director of Passing, strutted the red carpet in a chic Dior Resort white wool jacket with a white silk pleated skirt and nude J’adior flats.

Black cinema and filmmaking have been officially celebrated in this ceremony since 2014, however, this year was the first time that the awards ceremony celebrated achievements in television too.

Some of the proceeds will be used for scholarships for students from underrepresented communities participating in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Gold Rising Program.
