Terrence Ross Feels ‘Comfortable’ Starting For Toronto Raptors [EXCLUSIVE VIDEO]
In December, the Toronto Raptors traded Rudy Gay and, more importantly, his massive contract to the Sacramento Kings. As a result, the Raptors slid second-year forward Terrence Ross into the starting lineup. Thus far, the results have been promising. Ross exclusively told Uinterview that he feels comfortable starting. “I played enough games to really have that confidence and make sure I have the support of my teammates there,” Ross told Uinterview. “So it’s always feeling good going into the second half of the season with the momentum swing and just knowing you put yourself in the best possible position to win.”
Ross told Uinterview that his career highlight took place in January when he scored 51 points against the Los Angeles Clippers. “It’s kind of surreal. I didn’t really believe it happened where I really scored 51 points,” Ross said. “It must have been a misprint or something. It was just… it seemed just too good to be real.”
The scoring outburst impressed Hall of Famer Clyde Drexler, who was named one of the NBA’s 50 greatest players. “You see how humble he is? I never scored 51 points and I’m a Hall of Famer,” Drexler told Uinterview. “Here he is at the age of 23, already with that accomplishment. There’s many great things ahead for Terrence Ross.”
Ross, who won the dunk contest in 2013, was a member of the Eastern Conference squad, along with John Wall and Paul George, which won the team competition portion of the 2014 Sprite Slam Dunk contest. Ross had his friend Drake, the rapper who hails from Toronto and is a minority owner of the Raptors, hold the ball up for his first dunk. Ross nailed the between-the-legs slam on his third and final try.
The Raptors (29-25) are in first place in the Atlantic Division and currently have a three-game lead over the Brooklyn Nets (25-27). The underachieving New York Knicks (21-33) are in third place in the division.
