Teresa Giudice’s Family ‘Will Step Up’ If She’s Sent To Prison

Teresa Giudice could potentially face up to 50 years behind bars for the fraud charges levied against her and her husband Joe Giudice, and if that happens, Teresa’s brother Joe Gorga and the rest of family will have their backs.

"Of course, the Gorgas will step up," a source told Us Weekly, "as will [cousins] Rich and Kathy Wakile, especially since the kids are involved."

Although Teresa and Joe Giudice are more likely to face 18 to 36 months in prison as opposed to 50, they would still have to spend a considerable amount of time away from their four daughters – Gia, 12, Gabriella, 10, Milania, 7, and Audriana, 3. Thankfully, since Teresa is currently on good terms with her brother and sister in-law Melissa, they’d be happy to help out with the children in their absence.

The Real Housewives of New Jersey couple was indicted on 39-counts of fraud, including conspiracy to commit mail fraud, conspiracy to commit bank fraud, making false statements on loan application and bankruptcy fraud. Joe is accused of failing to file tax returns from 2004 through 2008, while Teresa is accused of falsifying employment documents to file for a mortgage loan in 2001. Following their success on Real Housewives, the couple allegedly withheld information about a large chunk of their income, according to their indictment.

While family might be behind the Giudice’s, not all of their friends are rushing to support them. Kim Granatell, for one, seems to feel that the couple had it coming. "My reaction to that is, okay, one or two counts? Okay, I can feel sorry for the kids," she said to Us. "But 39? You didn't know what you were doing? You didn't think of the consequences? Come on! Come on!"

Teresa and Joe are currently on vacation with their four daughters in the Hamptons. A picture of the legally embattled coupe posted to Teresa’s Instagram account is simply captioned, “Me and my Honey.”

"Milania & her Daddy hitting the waves…” Teresa captioned another photo, which shows Joe helping his daughter out with her boogie board.

Teresa and Joe’s next hearing is scheduled for Aug. 14.
