Tekashi 6ix9ine Accuses Ariana Grande & Justin Bieber Of Buying The No. 1 Spot On Billboard’s Hot 100

Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, also known as 6ix9ine, posted an Instagram video last week accusing Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber of purchasing the number one spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 list. The post is featured on the rapper’s IGTV, Instagram TV, account.

On this week’s Billboard Hot 100 chart, Grande and Bieber’s “Stuck with U” came in the number one spot while 6ix9ine’s “Gooba” is the third song on the list.

“Gooba” is Tekashi’s first single since being released last month from federal prison, four months before the end of his two-year sentence.

In the rapper’s video, he claims that Billboard both undercounted the number of streams “Gooba” received and suggested that six credit cards were fraudulently involved in purchasing downloads of “Stuck with U” to inflate the success of the song.

Grande fired back against the rapper’s statements on her Instagram. “i would like to address a few things which i don’t usually do (i don’t give my energy to drama or strange accusations normally but this has gone a little too far)…my fans bought the song. JUSTIN’S fans bought the song. OUR fans bought this song (never more than four copies each, AS THE RULES STATE),” she commented.

Bieber also took to social media to comment on the situation. “The rules are clear. One credit card can buy max 4 copies. Anything over that the entire amount gets thrown out. Nielsen checks this and found all our sales were legit because our fans are amazing and bought them,” he wrote on his Instagram story.

Bieber called out Tekashi 69 for referring to Grande in his IGTV video and not him. “This is my song with Ariana Grande and I’m honored to work with her to help raise money for a great cause. If [you’re] gonna say her name make sure you say mine because it’s our song.”

Proceeds from “Stuck with U” will benefit the First Responders Children’s Foundation.

Billboard also commented on the matter. “Billboard and Nielsen Music/MRC Data conducts audits on all sales reported with access to purchase-level detail, and works with data partners to recognize excessive bulk purchases and removed those units from the final sales total. All titles this week, as in every week, were put under the same scrutiny,” the magazine said.
