Ted Cruz may have won April Fools Day
The misleading Twitter post refers to Cruz’s many invitations for Donald Trump to join him in a one-on-one debate, which Trump has repeatedly turned down. And then a link opens up to a video called “Donald Trump Accepts Cruz’s Debate Invitation” which starts with both his invitations and Trump’s insistence that the two have faced each other in live debates many times. Then, the video’s unsuspecting viewers get “rickrolled.”
Being “rickrolled” happens when I user clicks on a link, typically which promises something with high demand or interest, and instead gets the music video of Rick Ashley‘s 1987 hit, “Never Gonna Give You Up.”
Trump backed out of the previously scheduled GOP debate in March. He responded to Cruz’s joke with an Instagram post.
