Taylor Swift’s Concert Film Forces Two Movies To Move Premiere Dates

Actress Meg Ryan’s return to romantic comedy, What Happens Later, is the second movie to change its premiere date since Taylor Swift announced her concert film for The Eras Tour.

Twenty-four hours after Swift announced that Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour would be in theaters on October 13, Bleecker Street, the production company behind Ryan’s What Happens Later, announced on X that the movie would be in theaters on November 3.

The production company posted: “So we’ll take our time… Are you ready for it? Meg Ryan ends her 14-year rom-com hiatus and the #Megaissance begins with #WhatHappensLater, now happening…later. Coming only to theaters November 3!”

What Happens Later, which Ryan also directed, is the second film to change premiere dates to avoid competing against Swift’s concert film.

On August 31, Universal Pictures moved The Exorcist: Believer to October 6.

And it looks like Bleecker Street and Universal made the right decision.

On September 1, AMC Theaters announced that Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour set a new company record for the highest-ever single-day advance ticket sales revenue, earning $26 million in revenue.

“Recognizing this unprecedented demand, AMC is adding additional showtimes to increase capacity where necessary and available,” the movie theater chain stated in a press release, it will play the film for at least four showtimes a day from Thursdays through Sundays at every AMC in the United States.

Tickets for adults will cost $19.89 plus tax, and tickets for seniors and children will cost $13.13 plus tax, this applies to all showtimes minus branded premium large format screens. The film will also be shown in IMAX, Dolby Cinema, and other premium formats with tickets priced at the standard up-charge fee, which depends on the format and theater.
