Swift announced the Summer tour back in September 2019 on her social media pages, and also explained why she waited so long to go on tour.

“For me, the Lover album is open fields and sunsets and SUMMER. I want to celebrate the album and perform it live with you in a way that feels authentic to the music,” wrote Taylor in the Instagram caption. “I want to go to some places I haven’t been, and play festivals for the first time in ages,” further explained the singer. The 2020 Lover Tour will visit ten locations across the world, including Berlin, Germany and Sao Paulo, Brazil. Four of the performances will be in the United States, but in a surprising twist, they will not be held in traditional locations. “Where we didn’t have festivals, we made some. Introducing, Lover Fest East and West,” announced the singer on Instagram. For the U.S. portion of the tour, Swift has helped create a festival series dedicated to her new album. The festivals, set to be held in California and Massachusetts, will each be held over a two-day period starting in late July.
