Taylor Swift suffered a cat-related injury that could cost her $40 million.
On Saturday, Swift shared a photo on Instagram of a very large, red scratch on her left thigh, courtesy of her cat Meredith Grey. “Great work Meredith. I was just trying to love you and now you owe me 40 million dollars,” Swift captioned the photo.
The $40 million Swift is referring is actually the singer’s recent insurance policy. Last week reports surfaced claiming that Swift had insured her legs in preparation for her 1989 tour. This type of insurance policy is fairly common in the land of Hollywood, as it protects artists and performers and their famous features.
Ellen Pompeo, who plays Meredith Grey, the character Swift’s cat is named after, on Grey’s Anatomy, reportedly saw Swift’s post and left a comment giving her some official medical advice. “@TaylorSwift this is awkward because my namesake did this but as your doctor, please keep that scratch clean! Yours truly the real Dr. Grey,” Pompeo wrote.
Swift followed her doctor’s orders, later sharing a photo of her new bandage.
While Swift recovers from her $40 million injury, her newest single, “Style,” was just named number 1 on the Pop Song charts, making it her third number one in a row from her new album.
