Taylor Swift Releases “Style” Music Video: Is It About Her Ex Harry Styles?
Taylor Swift dropped her music video for “Style” – the third single off her newest album 1989.

Directed by Kyle Newman, husband to Swift’s close friend Jaime King, and co-starring Dominic Sherwood, “Style” is a surprising departure form Swift’s music video for “Blank Space.” Instead of creating an elaborate fantasy of crazy love, “Style” features images of two lost lovers – Swift and Sherwood – remembering each other through hazy images and broken glass.
Paper Airplane Necklace And Harry Styles
While the music video for “Style” is full of small, artistic details, one stands out in particular: a shot of a paper airplane charm necklace. When Swift first revealed the track list for 1989, it was assumed that “Style” would be about Swift’s brief relationship with Harry Styles of One Direction. Once the song was released, the lyrics, which describe the guy as having “long hair, slicked back, white t-shirt,” seemed to confirm those suspicions.
As for the paper airplane seen in the video, Styles was frequently photographed wearing a similar necklace, and Swift too was spotted wearing the jewelry while the two were dating. In fact, Swift references the paper airplane necklace in another track off 1989 titled “Out of the Woods.” And the appearance of the accessory in the music video for “Style” suggests that both songs are specifically about Swift’s relationship with Styles.
“It’s basically one of those relationships that’s always a bit off. I talk about it in another song on the record, a crooked love, which is never quite synced up right. The two people are trying to forget each other and they’ve both been out with other people and they’ve both tried to forget the other,” Swift said of “Style.”
