Taylor Swift Given Songwriters' Award

Taylor Swift was honored by the Songwriters’ Hall of Fame which presented her with the Hal David Starlight Award, which recognizes up-and-coming songwriters.

The award was presented to Swift by John Mayer, who noted, "she’s no accident. You could put her in a time machine in any era and she would have a hit record."

Paul Simon, Phil Collins and Leonard Cohen were also honored at the ceremony. Simon received the Towering Song Award for "Bridge Over Troubled Water," Collins received the Johnny Mercer Award, and Cohen was inducted into the Hall of Fame along with Jackie DeShannon, Bob Marley, Laura Nyro, Johnny Mandel, and David Foster. –JULIA ALKON
