Swift released a statement Tuesday to announce her donation. She explained that Louisiana had a special place in her heart after she kicked off her 1989 tour in New Orleans. “We began The 1989 World Tour in Louisiana, and the wonder fans there made us fell completely at home,” Swift wrote. “The fact that so many people in Louisiana have been forced out of their own homes this week is heartbreaking.”

Swift went on to call upon others to follow her lead by reaching out a hand to the state that was previously ravaged by Hurricane Katrina.

“I encourage those who can to help out and send your love and prayers their way during this devastating time,” the “Bad Blood” singer added.
