Taylor Swift celebrated National Cat Day on Wednesday, Oct. 29, sharing new photos of her two cats, Meredith Grey and Olivia Benson.

Taylor Swift Celebrates National Cat Day

Swift, who is currently on a press tour promoting her new album, 1989, spoke about her two cats, both named for strong female television characters, on The View on National Cat Day. According to Swift, a well known cat lover, her eldest cat, Meredith, has gotten a bit full of herself since becoming an “internet celebrity” last year.

“Meredith started out as a very friendly kitten, and then she became sort of an internet celebrity, and I think she kind of – she changed a little…She just kinda sits around and she’s always giving me the side glance, like I don’t matter anymore to her because she knows that she was like 2013’s most popular celebrity cat,” Swift told The View.

Swift also celebrated National Cat Day on Twitter and Instagram, sharing a sweet photo of her cats cuddling.

In honor of #NationalCatDay, here is a photo of that one time I caught Meredith and Olivia cuddling.

National Cat Day was founded in 2005, and aims to promote cat adoption and raise money for animal shelters. “The best way you can celebrate though is to save a life! So if you can…ADOPT…don’t shop,” reads the official website.
