Her songs are full of sweet romance, but Taylor Swift doesn't need a boyfriend to be happy.
"Being single is wonderful and I love it," the singer, 20, said. "I don't ever have a morning where I wake up and say, 'I really need to find a boyfriend today.'" The Grammy-winning performer has more than enough to keep her busy with her music—although her songs and her love life have more in common than not.
"I will say everything in my music… There's been extreme joy, extreme pain, extreme curveballs," she said. "Sometimes when things impact you so intensely, it takes writing a song to get over them." Swift explained that writing music is incredibly important to her sense of self. "The only way I know how to understand pain or move past it is to write songs about it — if I change that, I'm really more changing a part of who I am," she said to MTV News. "And I don't really want to start doing that."
Even if her habit of writing about ex-boyfriends has recently become public knowledge, she doesn't worry it will deter future suitors. "It's understandable, but … I've never kept quiet the fact that I write songs about people," she said. "It's like, this is album number three. You guys have had fair warning!" Swift's new album, Speak Now, will be released on October 25. –AMY LEE
