Taylor Swift, Adele Top American Music Awards
Singer-songwriter Taylor Swift, 21 was humble as usual at Sunday night's American Music Awards at Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre, where she took home two trophies in the Country Music category for Favorite Female Artist and Favorite Album, as well as nabbing the coveted all-encompassing Artist of the Year.
"This is like one of the craziest things that has ever happened to me," Swift said onstage while accepting her award for Artist of the Year. Swift won the honor last year also. "This is so crazy."
Rapper Nicki Minaj nabbed two awards in Rap / Hip-Hop for Favorite Artist and Favorite Album. "Chase your dreams," she said to the audience, sporting a mane full of pink hair. "I never thought this could be possible."
Singer Adele also won three awards, in the Pop / Rock Category, for Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Album, and Adult Contemporary Artist. She wasn't present to accept her awards, however, being as she was home recovering from recent throat surgery.
Jennifer Lopez, who also performed at the event, walked away with the honor of Favorite Latin Music Artist, an award she also won eight years ago. Katy Perry also received an Achievement award for being the first female in pop music history to have five number one singles from one album.
