Taxi Company Sued: Gay Couple Files Lawsuit After Getting Kicked Out Of Cab For Kissing
Chicago couple Matt McCrea and Steven White have filed a lawsuit against cab company Sun Taxi for the incident last year in which they were kicked out of a cab after a brief kiss.

In their suit, McCrea and White claim that after they shared “a simple, one second in length, kiss” when McCrea picked White up at O’Hare airport, the driver – Jama Anshur – tried to kick them out of the car on the side of the Kennedy Expressway in rainy conditions, reported the Chicago Sun-Times. When the couple refused to get out, Anshur allegedly began “driving recklessly, swerving into traffic,” according to the court filing.
Eventually, Anshur brought them to the parking lot of a grocery store in Park Ridge, where police eventually met them. McCrea and White alleged that Anshur misleadingly told the officer that they were “making sex.”
In interviews since the incident, McCrea and White have elaborated on the chain of events. "He told us that it was public transportation and I couldn't kiss him," McCrea told ABC News. White added, “This is something a heterosexual couple wouldn't have to think twice about if they want to exchange a kiss, whether it's in a cab or anywhere else in public."
McCrea says that he and White are suing Sun Taxi for violating the Illinois Human Rights Act because the treatment they suffered should not go unpunished. "We want to let people know that this is not acceptable and you cannot be treated like this. And if you are treated like this, you need to say something," said McCrea.
McCrea and White are seeking an undisclosed sum in damages.
