Tara Reid Shuts Down Bulimia Rumors: ‘Leave Me Alone’

Sharknado actress Tara Reid recently discussed weight loss rumors following her departure from season 2 of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.

Reid opened up about the “demons she continues to fight inside her,” including internet bullies and body image.

During the interview with the Los Angeles Inquisitor, she denied having anorexia and bulimia, saying, “I’m terrified of throwing up, so that’s not gonna happen. And I love food too much.”

She called out those who spread rumors about her, calling them “miserable” for spreading these “hurtful” lies about her.

“Leave me alone,” the actress said. “Pick on me again on something else, but not on those two things. It’s not right.”

She compared her experience as a thin person to that of heavier people, pointing out the double standards.

“If we were overweight, then they can’t say anything because that’s bullying,” she said. “But it’s the same thing if you’re skinny. That’s still bullying, too.”

She insists nothing is wrong with her, and she has always been very thin due to her “high metabolism,” calling the stories people make up about her “kind of crazy.”

She also confessed that she wanted to join the Special Forces to help herself “get over certain issues.”

“I thought if I could do this, try this, maybe I can get over some of the things that I have, like the darkness inside of me,” she said.

Although she was the first person to leave, she has no regrets and is thankful for the experience that has taught her so much about herself.

“I’m so glad I did it because it really did help me,” Reid said. “It made me learn my strength, my mental strength, my inner strength – not necessarily my physical strength.”

In 2022, Reid opened up uInterview exclusively about how she really felt when she first read the Sharknado script.

“I thought, ‘Are you kidding me?’ Reid confessed. “Sharknado? Like tornadoes and sharks in the sky? Like this is the worst script I’ve ever read, you know? But I kept laughing out loud because it was just so bad. And then that night I went out to dinner with my friends and I was telling them about it. They were like, ‘Are you kidding me? You have to do this movie!’ And I was like, ‘All right.’ So, I called my agent and I said, ‘All right, I’ll do the movie.’ But I thought no one would see it like I’d take the money and run on this kind of thing, but that’s exactly what not happened. It was funny. We were in Mexico on vacation, and we were there and I get this phone call, and my phone keeps going like, ‘Boom! Boom! Boom!’” Reid described.

“I’m like, ‘What is going on?’ Like I thought something happened, and then I answered the phone and it’s my agent going, ‘You won’t believe what’s happening! American Pie is trending No. 1, they’re getting a million hits per minute!’” she continued. “And I was like, you got to be joking me, because like we did no press on it, no anything on it. And then I get on the plane to go home, and the stewardess says to me, ‘Oh my God!’ He was like, ‘I love your movie,’ and I thought, of course, he’s talking about American Pie, and then he goes, ‘Sharknado‘s the best!’ And then I was like, ‘Ok this is really weird, like, am I getting punked?’ Like it was crazy.”
