Tamera Mowry-Housley Mourns Death Of Husband’s Niece, Alaina Housley, In Thousand Oaks Mass Shooting

Tamera Mowry-Housley and Adam Housley are currently mourning the loss of their niece, Alaina Housley, who was discovered to be one of the 12 victims that were killed in the California mass shooting on Wednesday.

In a statement released to CNN, the couple said, “our hearts are broken. We just learned that our niece Alaina was one of the victims of last night’s shooting at Borderline bar in Thousand Oaks. Alaina was an incredible young woman with so much life ahead of her and we are devastated that her life was cut short in this manner. We thank everyone for your prayers and ask for privacy at this time.”

Hours after it was confirmed that Alaina had died on Wednesday evening in the mass shooting at Borderline Bar & Grill, The Real co-host, Tamera posted a tribute to the Pepperdine University student on Instagram.

“Alaina. My sweet, sweet Alaina. My heart breaks. I’m still in disbelief. It’s not fair how you were taken and how soon you were taken from us,” the mother of two wrote. “I was blessed to know you ever since you were 5. You stole my heart. I will miss our inside jokes, us serenading at the piano. Thank you for being patient with me learning how to braid your hair, and I will never forget our duet singing the national anthem at Napa’s soccer game.”

The Sister, Sister actress then closed off by emphasizing how much she loved her and how Alaina was going to make “one gorgeous angel.”

Adam, who has covered mass shooting as a reporter for Fox News in the past, also took to Instagram to express his devastation over the loss of his niece. 

“My sweet, sweet…Alaina. Oh how I miss you. Oh how I miss u. #heartbroken,” he wrote.

Prior to learning that Alaina had died, the pair also took to their social media to search for information and share their hope in finding Alaina. 

Adam responded to a tweet, writing “staying positive and praying and hoping and wishing there was more I could do.” He also posted a picture of Alaina on Instagram and wrote, “I really don’t know what to say other than I love this girl with all my heart and I’d give my life right now for a miracle.” 

Tamera’s twin sister, Tia Mowry, also shared a photo of the sisters and Alaina from Tamera’s wedding in 2011. “Alaina Housely we are praying. We love u! If you know anything or any information please let us know. We love you!” she wrote.

After a former Marine Corps veteran opened fire and threw smoke grenades in the Southern California bar, which was hosting a college night for country music fans, 12 people were pronounced dead, including the gunman. The victims included a college freshmen, a law enforcement officer, a recent college graduate, and an aspiring Army recruit.

The first victim to be identified was, Ventura County sheriff’s Sgt. Ron Helus, who was a 29-year-old law enforcement veteran who was getting ready for retirement. Police are calling him a “hero” for his bravery,
