Sylvester Stallone Wins Best Supporting Actor for ‘Creed,’ Thanks Rocky Balboa At Golden Globes 2016
Four generations after playing the converted character of Rocky Balboa, Sylvester Stallone wins for Best Supporting Actor for Creed.
The 69-year-old received a standing ovation as he won for Creed almost 40 years after winning for Best Screenplay in 1977. Stallone was shocked and overwhelmed as he took the stage.
“Thank you!” Stallone said, “I am gonna try not to get emotional because I am the sum total of every person I ever met. Last time I was here was 1977. I want to thank my wife and children. Actually having your love is the greatest award there is.”
He thanked the producers and the crew that helped his career. “They gave a shot to a mumbling actor. I want to thank my imaginary friend Rocky Balboa for being the best friend I ever had,” he said as he ended his speech.
