Donald Trump may asked Sylvester Stallone to head the agency in charge of the creative arts in the United States, according to sources in the transition team.
The actor responsible for Rocky may hold the position as the Chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts. The chairman plays a strong role in shaping the creative culture in this country. The organization is also responsible to awarding grants to young artists.
While Stallone is not outspoken politically, he is one of the few celebrities who is known to have supported Trump’s campaign. “I love Donald Trump,” he told reporters. “He’s a great Dickensian character. You know what I mean?”
“There are certain people like Arnold, Babe Ruth, that are bigger than life,” he continued, “but I don’t know how that translated to running the world.”
A report has quoted a Trump transition team source as saying they hope this pick will quash rumors that Trump’s presidency will be hostile to the arts. If Stallone is chosen and accepts, he will join the likes of Rocco Landesman, Jane Alexander and Dana Gioia, who held the position under Presidents Barack Obama, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, respectively.
