“Tonight, we are illuminating the Sydney Opera House sails to show our support for everyone affected by the Australian bushfires. We want to send a message of hope and strength, and importantly to thank the emergency services and volunteers for their incredible efforts and courage,” the Sydney Opera House tweeted this week in response to the devastating Australian bushfires  have now killed 28 people, including four firefighters. The fires are also endangering Australian wildlife, prompting the Australian government’s decision to pledge $50 million in a protection effort.

The Sydney Opera House ‘sails’ feature four images, the first three of first responders at the scene of the fires, and the fourth capturing a a cardboard sign with a heart drawn on it that responds “Thank you, firies,” an Australian term for firefighter.
