Last week on Survivor: Heroes v. Healers v. Hustlers, the three tribes merged, leaving everyone to fend for themselves. In episode 8, more alliances are forged and split.

SURVIVOR: HEROES V. HEALERS V. HUSTLERS RECAP

This episode starts out with Lauren finding a secret advantage, which allows her to not vote at this upcoming tribal council and save that vote for later, giving her two votes in a future tribal council. The reward challenge we have this week sees the contestants run up a tower and through a myriad of obstacles. The group was split up into the blue team (Ashley, Ben, Lauren, Mike, Desi) and the red team (JP, Chrissy, Ryan, Devon, Cole), and each person must use a slingshot to shoot sand bags at five targets. Each person was required to shoot at least one sand bag, but not required to hit the target to move on. The winning team will be transported to  a secret island for a feast. In the end, the blue team won.

But there was a twist. One person, Joe, won a lottery and got to sit out from the challenge but still would enjoy the feast. He chooses in which order the team would eat the meal with a catch  – there is definitely an idol clue at the dinner. Cole finds the clue under his plate, which tells him that there is an immunity idol buried underneath the tribe flag at the camp. Chrissy and Ryan both find the same clue.

After dinner, Ryan runs to digs up the idol and shoved it down his pants. Chrissy helps him by refilling the hole, but Cole sees her and thinks she’s searching for the idol. Then Ben runs over as well, and is convinced that he saw Cole take the idol and put it in his pants. Now Cole has to hope he wins immunity in the next challenge or else they might try to get rid of him.

The immunity challenge sees the contestants stand on a narrow beam while balancing a statue on a pole. At set intervals, each person must move further down the beam. Mike falls off first, and then Joe. It comes down to Cole and JP and Cole wins in the end.

Now there are four Healers, four Heroes, and just three Hustlers. The groups plot how to vote at tribal council, thinking that all the men should vote for Joe, and all the women for Desi. Joe tries to convince Ryan and Devon to vote for Ben, but Ben hears and the two get into a crazy shouting match.

At the tribal council, Joe screws himself by starting to point out Ben as the strongest competitor, and therefore should be the one to go this week. But Chrissy turns on Joe and tells him to “stop talking.” Lauren secretly uses her advantage, and when Jeff Probst counts votes, it is a 4-4 tie between Joe and Desi. No one seemed to notice that there are an odd number of voters, but that the vote was tied. Anyway, after the tie, there is a revote, that won’t include either Joe or Desi. After the revote, somehow Joe is safe and Desi is the contestant to leave, and is the first to be a member of the jury this season.
