Surveillance Video Of Jeffrey Epstein’s First Suicide Attempt In Jail Deleted

The surveillance video taken from outside Jeffrey Epstein‘s jail cell on the day of his first apparent suicide has been permanently deleted. This coming from federal prosecutors on Thursday who say the video is now gone because officials at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York saved video from a different floor of the federal detention facility.

The disgraced financier who was facing federal sex-trafficking charged was found semiconscious in his cell at MCC on July 23.

After reviewing the video, the FBI made the discovery and alerted prosecutors.

“After reviewing the video, it appeared to the government that the footage contained on the preserved video was for the correct date and time, but captured a different tier than the one where [the cell housing Epstein and his cellmate] was located because the preserved video did not show corrections officers responding to any of the cells seen on the video.”

The video was filed per request of Nicholas Tartaglione‘s attorney, the cell mate to Epstein and former policer officer who is charged with killing four men in an cocaine distribution conspiracy.

Prosecutors did manage to preserve video from outside his cell which they are using as evidence against two MCC guards who are accused of falsifying records and not performing the proper check on Epstein the night he died.

Epstein, 66, died by suicide in his cell three weeks after this first incident, sparking debates about the true nature of the suicide and the operations of the prison.
