‘Superman’ Actor Dean Cain Looks Unrecognizable After Weight Gain At The Hollywood Christmas Parade

On Sunday, Dean Cain walked the red carpet at the 91st Hollywood Christmas Parade – but many fans didn’t recognize him after his significant weight gain.

Dressed in a black suit with a festive pink tie, the actor caught the public’s attention due to his new portly look in contrast to his appearance in his TV role in the 90s.

Cain, 57, gained prominence through his role alongside Teri Hatcher in the television series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, which aired on ABC from 1993 to 1997.

Cain went on to take the role of real-life detective James ‘Woody’ Woods in the film Gosnell: The Trial of America’s Biggest Serial Killer in 2018. The movie was based on the true story of Kermit Gosnell, an abortion doctor from Pennsylvania who was convicted of the murder of three infants after their live births and involuntary manslaughter of a pregnant woman under his care, among other charges.

In 2020, Cain blasted a Time Magazine opinion piece that compared superheroes to police officers. He argued that today’s cancel culture would have censored his character’s iconic catchphrase of “truth, justice, and the American way.”

He went on to criticize the intensification of cancel culture in the weeks that followed the brutal murder of George Floyd and called for a re-examination of pop culture’s treatment of superheroes like Batman, Spider-Man and Punisher, who are accused of being “cops with capes.”

Cain was recently sworn in as a reserve police officer with the Pocatello Police Department.

On Thursday, Fox News asked Cain his opinion on the article by writer Eliana Dockterman, entitled “What are superheroes except cops with capes who enact justice with their powers?”

Cane responded, “This is insane to me though, because these people will scream anti-police rhetoric all day long but when their life is threatened and they need a hero, they will dial 911 and a police officer will show up.”

In reference to the well-documented cases of police brutality, Cain said there were “bad situations” and “bad apples,” but forcefully asserted that “99.9% of all police officers” were doing a “fantastic job.”

Cain was recently in the news when he criticized the Superman comic character for coming out as bisexual.
