Adele has made history as one of the few people to be featured on both the U.S. and U.K. editions of Vogue at the same time, looking super skinny after a dramatic weight loss.
In her interview, she talks about divorce, her upcoming album and how she deals with anxiety. She reflected on how working out became a therapeutic way to sort out her emotional distress.
“It became my time. I realized that when I was working out, I didn’t have any anxiety,” she said. “It was never about losing weight. I thought, If I can make my body physically strong, and I can feel that and see that, then maybe one day I can make my emotions and my mind physically strong.”
The U.S. version of the magazine shows a full body shot of her in a long green dress, while the U.K. edition shows a closeup of the star in a yellow dress.
Some confusion arose on social media over the wording of the announcement of Adele’s covers.
“For the first time ever Vogue and @BritishVogue profile one cover star. @Adele is back—and this reemergence is different,” the Vogue Twitter account wrote.
Fans were quick to point out that Rihanna was featured on both magazine covers in April 2016, and that a select number of other individuals were apparently featured on both covers in the ’90s.
Vogue has not responded to these comments, but it seems like this might be the first time a collaborative effort between the two versions of the magazine was conducted in order to feature one star.
