Streamer Rachell Hofstetter, better known as Valkyrae, said a scene featuring her was cut from the newly released A Minecraft Movie six months after she spoke out against the film’s star, Jason Momoa.

“I would much rather not have that 30 seconds than be sued, so it’s all good,” Hostetter said in one of her recent Twitch streams. “It was a wonderful 10 days in New Zealand for that 30 seconds, and I’m happy that I got to visit it; I feel like things could’ve been much worse.”

This isn’t the first time Momoa has faced problems on set. In October 2023, notes obtained by Variety described a hostile work environment on the set of Aquaman, where an allegedly intoxicated Momoa performed stunts in an attempt to bully actress Amber Heard amid the legal battle with her ex-husband, Johnny Depp.

In September 2024, Hofstetter accused Momoa of creating a poor work environment during the movie’s filming, calling him one of her “worst celebrity or streamer experiences” during a podcast appearance with fellow influencer JasonTheWeen, more commonly known as Jason Nguyen.

“I just saw him mistreat some of the crew, and it was pretty disappointing,” she claimed. “It was after a very intense and emotional scene, so maybe he was still in character. I don’t know, but I was surprised by how he treated some of the crew.”

“He was just really mad at them and that they weren’t doing something right,” she continued. “It was like setting up the shot; it was just angry, really mad, and yelling. I was like, ‘Man, this is not a good environment, like, I would not be happy under these conditions.'”

Her testimony painted a much different image of the actor than viewers recognize. Momoa established himself as a carefree and approachable figure despite portraying stern characters like Aquaman. In Minecraft, Momoa plays Garrett Garrison, a video game store owner and former game champion longing to return to his glory days in the 1980s. Despite the comedic nature of his role, Hofstetter’s comments paint a much darker image behind the scenes.

A Minecraft Movie was released on April 5 and scored $157 million at the box office during its opening weekend in the U.S. and Canada.
