Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp sparked backlash online after sharing his thoughts on the Israel-Hamas war on social media.
Schnapp took to Instagram to voice his stance.
“As a Jewish American, I am afraid. Afraid for my brothers and sisters in Israel, who have been senselessly attacked by Hamas. I am truly heartbroken to see the brutal murders of innocent children, women and soldiers fighting to defend themselves.”
“I, like others, want peace for both Palestinians and Israelis,” he continued. “Let’s stop the rhetoric and choose sides. Instead, we must recognize that we are all on the side of the fight against terrorism. Choose humanity over violence.”
Schnapp went on to call out people who do not completely support Israel.
“I hope we can agree that Hamas is a recognized terrorist organization; they don’t represent the Palestinian people when they value murdering Israelis more than protecting their own.”
He then declared, “You either stand with Israel or you stand with terrorism.”
This last statement angered social media users, some of whom shared their thoughts on social media.
“Why do celebs think they should chime in on things they don’t really know about?” one user asked.
“No amount of words can fully express how stupid this is,” another commented. “You literally say Hamas does not represent the people then you contradict yourself by saying you either stand with Israel or stand with terrorism.”
Schnapp has not responded to the criticism.
