Stormy Daniels Awarded $450,000 For Wrongful Arrest At Ohio Strip Club

On Friday, adult film star Stormy Daniels was awarded $450,000 to settle a lawsuit over her arrest at a strip club last year in Ohio.

Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford was arrested on suspicion of inappropriately touching an undercover officer. She was charged with three misdemeanor counts of illegally touching undercover patrons at the city’s Sirens Gentlemen’s Club. The charges were dropped less than 24 hours later.

The state’s no touching law states that any employee who regularly appears nude or seminude at a “sexually oriented business” is prohibited from touching patrons, except for family members. This did not apply to Daniels because she was not a regular performer at the club.

In January, following the dropped charges, Clifford filed the suit alleging police were politically motivated when they arrested her. She claimed officers conspired to retaliate against her over her claims that she had sex with Donald Trump before he became president. Daniels’ lawyer at the time, Michael Avenatti, called the arrest “a setup” and “politically motivated.” She originally sought $2 million in damages, and has settled for $450,000.

City attorney’s office spokeswoman Meredith Tucker said the agreement was reached after mediation Friday with all parties agreeing the figure was fair “given the facts and circumstances involved.

Clark Brewster, Daniels’ lawyer, credited city officials for how they handled the case. “The city of Columbus took responsibility and understood it and did a proper investigation and was critical of their own people. And today we got this case settled,” Brewster said.

An internal police review determined her arrest was improper but not planned in advance or politically motivated.
