Sting To Be Inducted Into WWE Hall Of Fame
The WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2016 has named its first member to be inducted this year: Sting.
Sting To Join WWE Hall of Fame
World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) made the announcement Monday in honoring the legendary wrestler at the prestigious event that will take place on April 2 at American Airlines Center in Dallas, the night before Wrestlemania 32 at AT&T Stadium. “We are truly honored to have Sting take his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame,” said WWE’s Executive Vice President of Talent, Live Events and Creative, Paul Levesque. “His contributions to our industry are unprecedented, and we look forward to celebrating his incredible career with fans all over the world.”
Sting, nicknamed “The Franchise of WCW” for his 14-year tenure with World Championship Wrestling, held 15 championships throughout his time in the WCW. He also held a rivalry with fellow WCW/NWA legendary wrestler Ric Flair before WCW was purchased by WWE. He would forego the WWE to perform with the World Wrestling All-Stars (WWA) and Total Nonstop Action (TNA) brands for the latter part of his career.
He finally signed on with WWE in 2014 and made his first appearance at Survivor Series. His first official match came at Wrestlemania 31 when he faced Triple H in a match that would solidify Sting’s legacy in almost all of wrestling and sports entertainment in all. Sting was set to wrestle in future WWE matches but suffered a massive neck injury that had him sidelined to this day and potentially ending his career.
