Prince
Stevie Wonder, Christina Aguilera and Chaka Khan are among the several musical artists set to perform at “The Official Prince Tribute” concert in St. Paul, Minnesota, next month.
John Mayer, Tori Kelly, Morris Day and the Time are also confirmed performers who will be joining Wonder, Aguilera and Khan at the upcoming Prince tribute concert.
Longtime friends of Prince and old music icons such as Anita Baker, Doug E. Fresh, Bilal, Mint Condition, Judith Hill and Liv Warfield, are reportedly hitting the stage with keyboardist Morris Hayes.
Hayes is a New Power Generation band member; a band that backed up Prince on various tours and performances throughout the years. The piano player, alongside members of the 3rdEyeGirl band, who also backed up Prince onstage, will provide the music — as the performers sing classic Prince hits.
“The family is extremely excited to provide an opportunity for the world to participate in the tribute for our brother Prince,” Prince’s sister Sharon Nelson said in a statement.
“Many fans and friends all over the world wanted to have the chance to honor, memorialize and celebrate this incredible man,” Prince’s friend and advisor L. Londell McMillan added. “We’re thrilled we were able to make this happen.”
Tickets for the tribute go on sale via Ticketmaster on September 19 at 10 a.m. CST.
The tribute concert will take place at the Xcel Energy Center on October 13.
