Stephen Colbert Took Aim At Donald Trump In Monologue, Spawns Hashtag #FireColbert

Donald Trump supporters are angry with Stephen Colbert after the late night host went on a rant insulting the president.

Colbert went all out against Trump citing the way the president had disrespected Face the Nation host John Dickerson. “When you insult one member of the CBS family, you insult us all,” Colbert explained before jumping right in.

“Mr. Trump, your presidency? I love your presidency. I call it ‘Disgrace the Nation,'” Colbert began. “You’re not the POTUS, you’re the BLOTUS. You’re the glutton with the button. You’re a regular Gorge Washington. You’re the presi-dunce, but you’re turning into a real prick-tator.”

“Sir, you attract more skinheads than free Rogaine,” he continued. “You have more people marching against you than cancer. You talk like a sign language gorilla who got hit in the head.”

While many conservatives took offense to these clever jokes, many more on Twitter aired their complaints about this last one: “In fact, the only thing your mouth is good for is being Vladimir Putin’s c–k holster.” Some people on the Internet took this insult to be homophobic, and thus started the #FireColbert movement.

“#FireColbert Anti-American. Homophobic. Bigot,” wrote one user. “#Colbert must go after his un-American disgusting homophobic rant on #POTUS,” said another.

Others, however, jumped to Colbert’s defense, citing VP Mike Pence‘s history of supporting conversion therapy. “To all you #FireColbert folks who suddenly care about homophobia, your choice of VP believes in conversion therapy. Look it up,” said one user. “Another gay over here. Not homophobic,” responded another.

Many other Colbert supporters mentioned Trump’s latest faux pas of asking why the Civil War was fought and mixing up its years. And others compared it to the so-called “locker room talk” during the election from the leaked Access Hollywood tape. “Everyone calm down, Colbert just engaged in locker room talk… You were all fine with it up till now,” one user wrote.

“Conservative snowflakes want to #FireColbert,” said another in a mocking tone. “Their boycotts always work too. That’s why Hamilton folded and there are no more Starbucks.”
