President Barack Obama kept a serious face on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert as Colbert gave him a mock interview to help prepare him for entering the job market once his presidency has ended.
“I don’t see any promotions for the last eight years, that’s not always good, can you explain that?” asked Colbert, dressed as an office manager named Randy.
“Honestly there wasn’t a lot of room for advancement at my last job,” Obama responded. “The only one who had a more powerful position was my wife.”
The bit was full of good lines, including Obama’s hope for “a nice corner office, or at least an office that has corners in it,” and Colbert’s “it doesn’t say here, where were you born?” poking fun at the ridiculous accusations Obama has faced in the past about his citizenship.
At the end, Obama stressed the importance of voting this election, and Colbert surreptitiously got a sneaky, albeit obvious, endorsement out of the president.
“Now sir, because we are on a network television show, I cannot allow you to endorse a candidate right now, but I would like to ask your choice of snacks,” Colbert says before reaching into his bag. “I have two choices for you here. Would you care for an extra-fiber nutrient bar, which has traveled to more than 100 countries, or this shriveled tangerine covered in golden retriever hair, filled with bile, that I wouldn’t leave alone with the woman I love.”
Obama obviously chose the nutrient bar. Watch the whole hilarious skit below.
