A bundle of 100 classic Atari games have been released on the PC online gaming platform, Steam. The package, called Atari Vault, can be downloaded at a discounted price of $16.99 through March 31 (full price $19.99).
This package includes fan favorites like Asteroids, Centipede, Crystal Castles, Gravitar, Bowling, Tempest, Missile Command, Breakout and Pong, along with the original box art for the respective games and other marketing materials. (Although fans of Pac-Man, Fogger, Q*bert, Space Invaders, and Pole Position, will be disappointed.)
The Steam game description says that the package includes “brand new additions of online and local multiplayer, along with Steam Leaderboards” which allow users to challenge their friends and compete with international players. The bundle also supports Valve’s Steam Controller (along with the traditional keyboard and mouse or any other compatible controller, so you can really dive into your nostalgia and use a trackball or 2600-Atari-style joystick).
The reviews so far for the bundle are overflowing with praise.
(Note: the games require Windows 7 or newer.)
